Valmeinier got famous because of the 'Tour de France' and is an insider´s tip for ski holidays. Valmeinier 1500 has conserved its charme of a mountain village with old stone houses. Valmeinier 1800 was newly built but in a traditional way with timber and stone. Most buildings are situated round the ski lift station so that you can ski back right to the cafés. Valmeinier is considered as a family friendly and snow secure due to the factor that most of the ski slopes are north facing. The ski slopes are excellent for families and beginners. Also you can do sports activities offside the ski slopes - there is an ourdoor ice skating rink, winter hiking trails, snow shoe tours, toboggan run and ice climbing. A very special highlight is the possibility to ski on the slopes in the night twice a week.
