Leutasch (1100m)

Seefeld | Tyrol | Austria

Picturesquely situated in the sunny Gaistal valley, the municipality of Leutasch lies at 1,136 m in a magnificent natural landscape, surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop. The valley is characterised by almost untouched nature with crystal-clear mountain lakes.

The community of Leutasch consists of several villages and is a part of the Olympiaregion Seefeld. It is a traditionally grown community, here it goes comfortably: the customs and village culture are still cultivated, guests can experience the living traditions to this day.

In Leutasch itself several bars and pubs provide après-ski fun. Enjoy the South Tyrolean specialities in one of the rustic and stylish restaurants. To relax after a day on the slopes, the modern ErlebnisWelt Alpenbad in Leutasch invites you to relax: here young and old can enjoy themselves in the indoor pool with outdoor pool, sauna area or the adjoining tennis and squash facility. Who wants to experience more of the life of the well-known homeland poet Ludwig Ganghofer, the traditional hunt in Leutasch and the over 800 years of village history, should pay a visit to the Ganghofermuseum.

Winter information:
Leutasch has the idyllic small Ski area Hochmoos at an altitude between 1,100 and 1,360 meters. A 3-seater chair lift takes skiers to the summit of Katzenkopf, where about 8 km of well-prepared pistes and a wonderful view of the Leutasch mountain world await them. The slopes are mainly easy and therefore very popular with families and beginners. Sportier skiers will find more challenges in nearby Seefeld. In addition to the alpine ski slopes, a toboggan run is also waiting for visitors.
Ski passes include the free of charge use of the local ski bus shuttle services as well as the regional bus network between the villages of the olympic region of Seefeld. All villages are therefore very well connected with the whole ski area.

In recent years Leutasch has developed into the starting point of the largest cross-country skiing area in Central Europe and offers extensive and multiple award-winning cross-country trails as well as a night cross-country trail for sporty holidaymakers. Winter hikers also get their money's worth in Leutasch with prepared hiking routes and rustic huts in a fantastic winter landscape.
The municipality of Leutasch is known for its snow safety, as the mountains protect from the warm foehn. Every year the international Euroloppet Ganghofer Run - the oldest cross-country race in Tyrol - takes place here. A district of Leutasch is Puitbach. Here is our Sonnenchalet Leutasch directly at the cross-country ski run and makes an easy entrance into the skiing pleasure possible.

Summer information:
Also in summer the Leutasch area scores with a varied offer of activities for the whole family. In summer, the Gaistal transforms into a hiking paradise with wonderful tours through the Tyrolean mountains and offers pure nature. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, there is a relaxed alpine hike through lush flowering meadows, while a summit walk in the Wetterstein mountains offers more challenging experiences.
An insider tip for families is the Leutasch Ghost Gorge, where ghosts, goblins and water dwarves should live in the untouched nature of the raging gorge. The ErlebnisWelt Alpenbad Leutasch with a large tube slide, air bubble loungers, waterfall and a spacious sauna landscape also provides variety in summer.

The Seefeld Olympic region is also a true climbing paradise in summer. A particularly large selection of routes for all requirements attracts beginners as well as top athletes every year on tours in the Tyrolean mountains. Very popular is the "Chinese Wall" in Leutasch with almost 200 secured routes. Here climbers will not only find a unique view, but also technically challenging tours.

If you prefer a little less adrenaline, you can do sports on the two golf courses in Seefeld-Wildmoos (18-hole course) and Seefeld-Reith (9-hole course).

The Seefeld plateau is also one of the most varied areas in the Alpine region for cycling tours. On almost 600 km of cycle tracks, holidaymakers can discover the natural landscape on two wheels. From beginners' routes for families to demanding cycling and mountain bike tours, everyone will find their suitable tour here. For the more comfortable sportsmen there is the possibility to rent an e-bike in Seefeld and to explore the region in a relaxed way.
